Celebration park has a cute yet typical suburban town vibe. Although boringly normal, it holds a super special place in my heart. I don’t think there was a single night in the summer of 2018 you wouldn’t have found me there. I would drive up during the golden hour with a bottle of topo chico, my adventure blanket, some earbuds, and a book in hand. I would read until the pastel colored sky faded into a vast universe of stars and listen to worship, longing for the day God would put me on the mission field.

Last night, my squad and I were praying over the city of Jaco, Costa Rica, interceding from one of the city’s rooftops. It’s incredible how many stars you can still see in Jaco at night despite the blinding lights coming from all the bars and clubs. I laid back on the dusty rooftop and gazed at the twinkling sky. I remembered all those times a couple of years prior at celebration, stargazing and longing for the promise. Now, there I was stargazing two thousand miles away, except I wasn’t longing for His promise. I was in it.

The setting of my stargazing has changed, but this deep, lovely truth remains the same. Only 4% of our universe has been explored. We know next to nothing about it, but we are invited into fully knowing the one who created it. We may not have access to the fullness of the universe, but we have access to fully knowing the one who hung every star in its place.

God is the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. It took me a long time to understand my relationship with each, and how at the same time, it was all One. This is how I relate to each part of the trinity, the fullness of God.

“Before I formed you in the womb I knew you,

and before you were born I consecrated you;

I appointed you a prophet to the nations.”

Jeremiah 1:5

God, the creator of the universe, who spoke the world into existence, knew me before I was formed. I wasn’t some random Idea of His. I was known by Him. I am still known by Him. Even after the last time someone on this earth says my name, He will still know me. He set apart a path for me even before I chose to follow Him and His ways. So even when I feel like I don’t know who I am, what my purpose is, or how to reach what He has for me, HE DOES! God is the ultimate father. He knows us, loves us, and has a plan for us. It is written and what is written is a promise. Like a good father, we can trust He will never waiver from His promises.

“18 Now all of us can come to the Father through the same Holy Spirit because of what Christ has done for us.”

Ephesians 2:18

Jesus, the Son, is the open door. Jesus unlocked the door to the fullness of God and holds it wide open for anyone who chooses to come in. He’s not a bouncer, haha He’s not spectating who gets to come in and who doesn’t. That’s grace friend! His blood covers all, and all means ALL! The door isn’t open to only you and me, but the homeless drug addict you drive by on your way to work, the scared teenager who just got an abortion, the one’s who had church doors shut in their faces, and even the ones who committed such an act against a fellow brother or sister in Christ. No matter the hurt, no matter the sin, no matter how clean cut or cut up by the world, CHRIST IS THE OPEN DOOR! He is the good news. He is the reason I’m here on the race, because how can I not tell the world of such good news?

“But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”

Acts 1:8

“After they prayed, the place where they were meeting was shaken. And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and spoke the word of God boldly.”

Acts 4:31

“But the Advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you.”

John 14:26

That’s a lot right? Such is the Holy Spirit. He gives us power, boldness and convicts us to teach us the ways of the kingdom. Many Christians don’t believe in Holy Spirit, which is super sad. Without Holy Spirit, we mistake fruits of the spirit for gifts of the spirit, we make church rules the base of our convictions, and we confuse pride for boldness. Being on the race has taught me how to yield to Holy Spirit daily, boldly telling the world about the fullness of God.

Hear me, dear reader; you don’t have to be some super Christian or a World Racer to access the fullness of God. You, right where you are, can ask Him to help you understand and dive into the fullness of Him. God doesn’t give us all these pieces of a puzzle and says, “Good luck on figuring it out.” He sits with us and helps us put it together, piece by piece, no matter how many times we put pieces into wrong places or make mistakes. He loves us and loves showing us His fullness.

  1. There are few things that can make us reflect on God’s majesty quite like stargazing. It’s always such a great reminder of who God is. Also, I love that imagery of God sitting with us and helping as we try to figure out the pieces of our life. What a lovely image of His closeness.

  2. You always give me such insight. You teach me more everyday. I love you
