I came up the stairs of my new home to see my new family gathered around a small table. The room was lit with candlelight and laughter. We broke bread, shared embarrassing stories, and spoke of God-given dreams. My team then told me about a vision/word they felt had been given to them for our team as a whole. “We are the beachhead,” Ari said to me with excited eyes.

The beachhead is a military strategy that advocates that, as you are approaching enemy territory, you should plan and focus all your resources on winning a small border area that becomes a stronghold area from which to advance into the enemy territory. Essentially, the beachhead is a waymaker, creating a path for people who come after it.

In so many ways, I already see this from my host to my team and the things that God is doing in me personally. We had a worship night the first full day I was here. That evening I watched many people from different cultures worship together and lift up the same God. As I was taking in this beautiful sight, God spoke to me, “You’ve seen yourself as someone on the back lines, but I’m bringing you to the beachhead.”

To be on the beachhead, you’ve got to be pretty brave. With my arriving here, that meant I finally got my prophetic key. It’s this little necklace with a key on it that says a prophetic word for the year ahead. I unwrapped mine to see the word “Bold” glimmering back at me in gold. Now I get up every morning and put on boldness.

Truth is, we are all putting on something every morning. You might not have a necklace with a word on it, but you still wake up and put on boldness or fear, humility or pride, joy or despair. What you are clothed in determines what you are ready for. If you’re dressed in shorts, you are more prepared for sun rather than rain. If you’re clothed in fear, you might not be ready for spiritual warfare, aka the beachhead.

What are you clothed in that is preparing you for your own beachhead? Are you ready for battle?
