I stood before these huge white doors with light beaming through the small cracks between itself and its hinges. There was no doubt that I was before the throne room. It seemed as if those doors were hardly containing the glory on the other side. I stood in awe and trembled in fear at the same time. Everything I had ever read or heard about the throne room is super scary and intense. I mean, have you ever read Isaiah 6? Isaiah writes,

“Above Him stood the seraphim. Each had six wings: with two he covered his face, and with two he covered his feet, and with two he flew. And one called to another and said: Holy, holy, holy is the Lord of hosts; the whole earth is full of his glory! And the foundations of the thresholds shook at the voice of him who called, and the house was filled with smoke.”

Six wings? The foundations shake at his voice’s sound? It’s too holy of a place for my feet to stand. I was afraid of the glory, but I knew I had to walk through those doors despite my fears. So I turned the golden knob and stepped in.

To my surprise, instead of being blinded by light and surrounded by mysterious heavenly beings, the Lord was just there sitting in a cozy-looking chair. The room was filled with deep green plants, vintage books from wall to wall, and scents of coffee lingered in the atmosphere. Confused, I asked, “What the heck are these things doing in here?” He smiled and responded, “I wanted you to feel safe and at home here in the throne room. The glory isn’t something for you to come and go from, but something to set up in. Make yourself at home here before the throne because you, my dear, are royalty too.”

Not only did this vision speak on my identity, but it reminded me of how we are all supposed to live. The glory of the Lord isn’t something to be afraid of, but it is something we are meant to steward. 2 Chronicles 7 says,

“As soon as Solomon finished his prayer, fire came down from heaven and consumed the burnt offerings, and the sacrifices, and the glory of the Lord     filled the temple. And the priests could not enter the house of the Lord, because the glory of the Lord filled the Lord’s house.”

Due to the glory, they couldn’t even enter the temple, but we see a different story in the New Testament. Ephesians 2:19-22 says,

“So then, you are no longer strangers and aliens, but citizens with the saints and members of the household of God, built on the foundation of the apostles and the prophets, Christ Jesus himself being the cornerstone, in whom the whole structure being joined together, grows into a holy temple in the Lord. In him you also are being built together into a dwelling place for God by the Spirit.”

Did you catch that??? Where the Old Testament priests could not even enter, we living in the New Testament have been formed into the temple. I can’t even begin to fathom how we get this honor to become a part of something so sacred, so holy.

Take some time out of your day today and ask Him how he wants you to steward His glory.
